On 1 May 2021, Mrs. Mariska Oosthuizen, sister of Mrs. Yolandi Botes and the family's spokesperson, officially mandated Mr. Mike Bolhuis of Specialised Security Services (SSS) to assist in locating her missing sister.
SSS Investigator Ms. Van Staden initially contacted Mrs. Oosthuizen and commenced the investigation into the disappearance of Mrs. Yolandi Botes.
Mrs. Oosthuizen informed Investigator Van Staden that her sister had told her she would be flying to Johannesburg to meet Mr. Anthony Rangousis from the Pick n Pay Towers in Boksburg. She further stated that she knew Mrs. Yolandi Botes had been involved in an affair with Mr. Rangousis for many years, during which he financially supported her with Pick n Pay vouchers and cash payments. He also agreed to finance her flight to Johannesburg.
Mrs. Botes and Mr. Rangousis reportedly met at a strip club in Johannesburg and had known each other for approximately 10 to 20 years.
Their affair was common knowledge among Mrs. Botes' family members.
Mr. Bolhuis appointed a Specialised Security Services (SSS) Task Team, under the leadership of Colonel (Ret.) Luke Enslin, to continue the investigation.
The task team established that Mrs. Botes worked as a stripper, prostitute, drug user, and extortionist, earning a living through this lifestyle.
The task team further concluded that Mrs. Botes lived an irresponsible lifestyle.
Initial findings indicated that Mrs. Botes travelled by air from George, Western Cape, to Johannesburg, Gauteng, to meet Mr. Anthony Rangousis.
The dismembered body of the late Mrs. Yolandi Botes was discovered in the Vaal River near Villiers in the Free State on 4 May 2021.
Mr. Anthony Rangousis, employed at the Pick n Pay store at Towers, Boksburg, arranged for Mrs. Botes to pay for her flight from George to Johannesburg using a Pick n Pay voucher (Voucher Number: 6000010014565394).
Mrs. Yolandi Botes photographed the voucher and sent the voucher number to Mr. Rangousis, who arranged for R1,517.00 to be loaded onto it so that she could purchase her airfare to Johannesburg.
A witness observed Mrs. Botes photographing the voucher and sending the voucher number to Mr. Rangousis.
(The statement of this witness was obtained on 12 April 2023 by a Specialised Security Services investigator.)
The voucher was photographed and the number transmitted from a Pick n Pay store in Hartenbos, Western Cape.
Mrs. Botes informed her husband, Mr. Wietzue Botes, as well as other family members, that she was travelling to Johannesburg to meet Mr. Rangousis.
She told her husband that she was meeting Mr. Rangousis to finalise agreements and sign documents.
Mr. Wietzue Botes was aware that his wife had previously travelled to Johannesburg to visit Mr. Rangousis.
She had told him that Mr. Rangousis had arranged for a driver to collect her.
She also informed her husband that Mr. Rangousis had booked a Mother's Day surprise at a day spa in the Vaal Triangle and that she hoped to see her children while she was in the Johannesburg area.
She was scheduled to depart for Johannesburg on 26 April 2021 at 08:40 and return to George on 27 April 2021 at 15:55.
Mrs. Botes never returned as planned.
On the day of her disappearance, Mrs. Botes remained in regular contact with her husband and continuously shared her live location.
At 08:34 on 26 April 2021, Mrs. Botes received an Uber voucher to travel to her meeting with Mr. Rangousis.
She arrived in Johannesburg at approximately 10:05.
At 10:16, she informed her husband that she was travelling to Boksburg.
At 10:51, she told her husband that her flight arrangements had not yet been sorted out.
At 10:53, she messaged: "So ek moet bel as ek in Uber is. Dan weet ek nie."
(This suggests that she had been in contact with Mr. Rangousis or one of his associates and that the original plan had changed.)
At 11:12, she messaged her husband: "Al's is vokop."
At 11:13, her husband replied: "Hoe so?" and "Hallo," attempting to get her attention.
At 11:14, Mrs. Botes replied: "Al's OK." and "Ek gaan nou met jou praat."
At 11:15, she informed her husband that the man driving her had been given strict instructions to travel directly to Vanderbijlpark: "Die ou is strict instructions gegee straight Vanderbijl toe."
At 11:29, she sent another message: "Ja en sy foon af."
In a further message at 11:29, she informed her husband that the driver appeared worried and wanted her to switch off her cellphone because he believed they were being followed: "Die ou is geworry iets is fout. Hy wil hê ek moet my foon afsit in case ons gevolg word."
At 11:30, her husband instructed her: "Jy sit nie jou foon af nie."
She replied: "OK."
Also at 11:30, her husband stated: "Anthony moet nie met sy kak begin nie."
At 11:31, he instructed her: "Stuur my 'n location."
At 11:36, he asked: "Wat's sy naam?" and repeated: Naam?"
At 11:36, she replied: "Ek fine. Gaan iets drink en eet."
She then responded: Kan nie onthou nie," referring to the name of the person transporting her.
At 11:36, her husband asked: "Waar?"
At 11:37, Mrs. Botes replied: "Hy sê naby by sy family. Hou op stress asseblief. Jy maak dit moeilik."
At 11:38, her husband responded: "Hoe maak ek dit moeilik? Hy ry weg van die spa af."
Mrs. Botes informed her husband that the driver was taking another route because he claimed he did not trust Mr. Anthony Rangousis, whom he described as a gangster.
From 11:40 to 11:50, Mr. Wietzue Botes sent several messages to his wife, but she never responded.
At 11:44, he also sent her the following message: "Fok die kak, ek bel daai poes."
Mr. Wietzue Botes took a screenshot of the last location received from his wife's phone.
The location was recorded as 26°09'55.3"S 28°10'03.2"E, and her phone remained stationary until it lost power.
Mrs. Botes was never heard from again.
On 26 April 2021, Mr. Wietzue Botes sent a WhatsApp message to Mr. Anthony Rangousis, asking him where Yolandi was.
Mr. Rangousis immediately blocked Mr. Wietzue Botes and did not respond.
Mr. Wietzue Botes subsequently left a message for Mr. Rangousis' wife, Debbie, on 26 April 2021, and she contacted him the following day, 27 April 2021.
Mr. Wietzue Botes informed Mrs. Debbie Rangousis that his wife had travelled to Johannesburg to meet her husband, Mr. Anthony Rangousis, on 26 April 2021, had failed to return, and was now missing.
Mrs. Rangousis told him that she knew nothing about any meeting between her husband and Mrs. Yolandi Botes.
She further stated that her husband could not have been with Mrs. Botes because he had been with her for the entire day on 26 April 2021.
In the meantime, the South African Police Service was investigating the missing person case involving Mrs. Yolandi Botes.
On 4 May 2021, the same day her remains were discovered, investigators visited Mr. Anthony Rangousis at his workplace, Pick n Pay Towers, Boksburg.
Mr. Rangousis submitted an affidavit to the police in which he admitted that he had known the missing Mrs. Yolandi Botes for approximately five (5) years and claimed that he had met her while working at Pick n Pay in Northmead.
(His version differs from that provided by other sources.)
Mr. Rangousis stated that Mrs. Botes was merely a regular customer. He alleged that approximately one year earlier, she had approached him in the store, explaining that she was awaiting a Road Accident Fund (RAF) payout and requesting that he loan her money, promising to repay him with 25% interest.
(This version again differs from those provided by other sources.)
Mr. Rangousis further stated that, when he asked why she required the money, Mrs. Botes explained that, due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident, she was unable to work and had children to support.
(This explanation differs from what he allegedly knew about how she earned a living.)
He further stated that, as a businessman, he regarded the request as a worthwhile opportunity and agreed to loan her the money.
According to him, they entered into a verbal agreement.
(This explanation appears illogical, as a businessperson would ordinarily require written security for a loan. His version also conflicts with information obtained from other sources.)
He stated that he subsequently transferred money to Mrs. Botes and that these payments would be reflected in his email records.
(He admits to making payments to Mrs. Botes, but his explanation does not correspond with the versions provided by other sources.)
Mr. Rangousis also stated that he sent Mrs. Botes a voucher on 21 April 2021 and claimed that, according to his calculations, he had already loaned her R202,000.00.
(He again admits to providing her with money and sending the voucher, which is consistent with information obtained from other sources.)
(His own version reflects that the amount allegedly loaned was substantial. This evidence may indicate that extortion had become part of their relationship, as suggested by other sources.)
He further stated that the last time they spoke, Mrs. Botes informed him that she expected to receive her RAF payout during June 2021.
(No evidence exists that any RAF claim was ever successfully finalised or paid out.)
THE LAST LIVE LOCATION RECEIVED FROM MRS. BOTES'S PHONE.
While Mrs. Botes was still missing, Mr. Wietzue Botes searched through her laptop in an effort to find clues relating to her disappearance.
During this search, he discovered a newly created folder containing a backup of WhatsApp conversations between Mrs. Botes and Mr. Anthony Rangousis.
He learned that she had threatened to expose their relationship to his wife, Debbie, unless he paid her R20,000.00.
He also discovered that Mrs. Botes had been sending explicit photographs of herself to Mr. Rangousis.
As a result, he concluded that his wife had been blackmailing and extorting Mr. Rangousis.
Mrs. Yolandi Botes was brutally murdered, and no person deserves to die in the manner in which she did.
No individual has the right to kidnap and murder another person, regardless of whether they believe the victim deserved punishment.
DISCOVERY OF THE DISMEMBERED BODY OF
THE LATE MRS. YOLANDI BOTES.
The discovery of the dismembered body of the late Mrs. Yolandi Botes in the Vaal River near Villiers, Free State,
on 4 May 2021, resulted in a murder investigation being registered by the South African Police Service at Villiers under:

On 26 April 2025, Mrs. Mariska Oosthuizen published a social media post addressing those responsible for her sister's murder.
She expressed her confidence that everyone involved in this heinous crime would be behind bars before the end of 2025.
We are now in 2026, and no one has yet been apprehended.
REASONS FOR THE STATUS QUO OF THIS INVESTIGATION ARE THE FOLLOWING:
1. INVOLVEMENT OF MAJOR GENERAL (RET.) ANDRE WIESE.
During March 2022, Major General (Ret.) Andre Wiese contacted Mr. Mike Bolhuis by cell phone and informed him that he possessed all the evidence required to solve this kidnapping and murder.
Major General (Ret.) Wiese is a former senior police officer who served on the Provincial Management structure in Gauteng.
He explicitly told Mr. Bolhuis that he would assist with the investigation and help solve this heinous crime.
After the initial phone call to Mr. Bolhuis, Mr. Wiese visited Mr. Bolhuis at his office, and he explicitly told Mr. Bolhuis that he had all the evidence needed to close this case with success.
He claimed that he had access to a person (name known to SSS) who kept three USB storage devices in a safe. According to him, these devices contained relevant conversations and evidence relating to the investigation.
Mr. Bolhuis referred Major General Wiese to the SSS Specialist Investigators Task Team, led by SSS Col. Luke Enslin.
Major General Wiese met with SSS Col. Luke Enslin and another SSS investigator on 24 March 2022.
During the meeting, Major General Wiese produced a photograph of Mr. Anthony Rangousis on his cellphone and stated that this was the individual who had been in contact with the late Mrs. Yolandi Botes. He further remarked that Mr. Rangousis certainly did not appear to be someone who would be involved in her disappearance and murder.
On 14 August 2023, General Wiese and Colonel Enslin met the acting station commander of the South African Police Service in Germiston, Lieutenant Colonel Andre Jordaan.
Lieutenant Colonel Andre Jordaan was requested to assist with the investigation because the last location from which the victim’s cellphone sent a signal indicated that it was in Germiston, which fell under his policing area.
He reviewed the information he received and assisted with the investigation.
However, he was later instructed by the SAPS Cold Squad Unit to immediately stop his investigation into this kidnapping and murder and to hand over his notes and files to them.
He immediately obeyed the instructions from the SAPS Cold Squad Unit and ceased all work on this case.
Specialised Security Services commends Lieutenant Colonel Andre Jordaan for his willingness to assist and for the professional manner in which he treated personnel attached to Specialised Security Services.
2. REVELATIONS BY MAJOR GENERAL (RET.) WIESE -
LATER DEVELOPMENTS IN THE INVESTIGATION,
INCLUDING HIS INTERFERENCE WITH POTENTIAL WITNESSES, SUSPECTS, AND THE MEDIA.
24 MARCH 2022 – 26 JULY 2024
At a later stage, after being questioned on numerous occasions, Major General (Ret.) Wiese stated that he had met Mr. Anthony Rangousis and a Mrs. Renche Bate, and another individual (known to SSS) at a shop in Menlyn Retail Park, Pretoria, on 2 June 2021, to discuss this kidnapping and murder.
This meeting took place 38 days after Mrs. Botes disappeared and 30 days after her dismembered body was discovered.
Major General (Ret.) Wiese stated that he had received money from Mr. Anthony Rangousis.
He later stated that he had also met privately with Mrs. Renche Bate after the meeting on 2 June 2021 and had developed a relationship of trust with her.
Major General (Ret.) Wiese admitted that he had interviewed Mrs. Lavonne Murray (a friend of the late Mrs. Yolandi Botes) at Hartbeespoort Dam.
Major General (Ret.) Wiese allegedly asked Mrs. Lavonne Murray to save his personal contact details under a different name on her cellphone so that the police would not discover that they had been communicating, stating that they would not approve.
(An SSS investigator obtained a statement from Mrs. Murray.)
Major General (Ret.) Wiese stated that he had warned journalist Mrs. Jana van der Merwe to be careful about what she reported regarding Mr. Anthony Rangousis because she would be "taken to task."
Major General (Ret.) Wiese had several meetings with Mrs. Jana van der Merwe.
Mrs. Jana van der Merwe reported that there had been extensive contact between Mr. Anthony Rangousis and Mrs. Yolandi Botes and that he regularly provided her with money for food, airtime, meat, petrol, and any other necessities she required.
According to Mrs. Jana van der Merwe, Mr. Anthony Rangousis regularly requested that Mrs. Botes send him photographs.
(These were explicit photographs.)
Mrs. Jana van der Merwe further reported that, on 29 September 2019 at 16:23, Mrs. Yolandi Botes sent Mr. Anthony Rangousis the following message: "Weet jy wat, Antoni. Let's cut the bullsht please. Ek is gefk en ek gaan nie môre 'n lening kan kry nie en jy verkoop nie 'n spaarfoon om my te help nie. Hoe dom dink jy is ek? Kom ons sny nou die kk uit: as jy my uit jou en Debbie se lewe soek, wil jy nie hê ek moet ons gesprekke ensovoorts vir haar aanstuur nie en geselsies oor die foon wat opgeneem is nie. Ek het R20,000 nodig om uit die kk te kom en vir goed uit jou en jou familie se lewe te kom, jou foonnommer uit te vee, Debbie se nommer, en nooit ooit weer met jou praat nie en jy nooit weer van my hoef te hoor nie. Alles sal uitgevee word. Dis 'n belofte. Ek is in elk geval besig om dood te gaan, so ek het niks meer om te verloor nie."
During 2021, Mr. Anthony Rangousis told News24 that he had never had a sexual relationship with Mrs. Yolandi Botes because she had informed him that she was HIV-positive.
Mr. Anthony Rangousis denied ever having had a relationship with Mrs. Yolandi Botes or ever requesting explicit photographs from her.
On 30 September 2019, Mr. Anthony Rangousis transferred R20,899.00 to Mrs. Yolandi Botes and added the message: "Sterkte."
On 7 October 2019, Mrs. Yolandi Botes sent Mr. Anthony Rangousis the following message: "Betaal asseblief geld in my rekening, my geld is klaar. Ek gaan die rekening oophou vir jou om elke week geld in te sit sodat ek nie uit geld uit hardloop en nie vir jou of Debbie hoef te pla nie en elke week moet SMS nie. Dankie. Jy moet 'n wonderlike week hê."
Payments to Mrs. Yolandi Botes continued thereafter.
News24 reported that, between 17 August 2020 and 21 March 2021, just over one month before Mrs. Botes disappeared, Mr. Anthony Rangousis had paid her more than R130,000.00.
Mr. Anthony Rangousis informed News24 that he was aware of Mrs. Botes' Road Accident Fund claim and denied that he had loaned her any money. He further claimed that, on the day she disappeared, she had travelled to Johannesburg to sign an agreement acknowledging money she allegedly owed him.
(This explanation appears inconsistent.)
(If he had not loaned her money, why would she have been required to sign an agreement acknowledging a debt?)
Mr. Anthony Rangousis did not respond to News24's enquiries regarding allegations that Mrs. Yolandi Botes had extorted him.
Mr. Anthony Rangousis lodged a complaint against Mrs. Jana van der Merwe with the Press Ombud.
During the early stages of the investigation, Major General (Ret.) Wiese FAILED to disclose any of these significant facts to those actively involved in the investigation.
Major General (Ret.) Wiese contacted Mr. Bolhuis to assist this investigation and ultimately failed to honour his commitment in solving the crime.
On 26 July 2024, Major General (Ret.) Wiese stated that he had been contacted by the National Cold Case Investigation Unit and had been instructed to meet with them.
(The outcome of this meeting remains unknown.)
Major General (Ret.) Wiese later stated that he owned a registered business named Primas, through which he conducted risk assessments.
Any risk assessments conducted by Major General (Ret.) Wiese could only have assisted the risks faced by Mr. Anthony Rangousis and Mrs. Renche Bate in connection with this investigation.
Major General (Ret.) Wiese agreed to put questions to Mrs. Renche Bate regarding the investigation and later reported her responses.
These questions had been compiled in conjunction with members of the media.
Major General (Ret.) Wiese mentioned that a woman known as Lexxie had previously been Mr. Anthony Rangousis' girlfriend.
He later referred to a woman named Cherryl Dunn (a woman that allegedly worked for Mr. Rangousis), stating that Mr. Anthony Rangousis had also supported her financially and that she had made more payments to the late Mrs. Yolandi Botes and other individuals than Mrs. Renche Bate had ever made.
Major General (Ret.) Wiese further stated that the person responsible for murdering Mrs. Yolandi Botes did not appear to be someone who would ordinarily be suspected of such a crime. He described the individual as a "hinke poep"—someone who, at first glance, resembled a vagrant.
3. INVOLVEMENT OF MR. MIKE BOLHUIS.
Mr. Mike Bolhuis is a renowned public figure, public speaker, commentator, specialist investigator, and anti-crime activist.
Mr. Bolhuis participated in the production of a television series by Provoco Productions concerning this newsworthy crime to create public awareness and assist the authorities in solving this heinous offence.
Mr. Bolhuis also supported the loved ones of the deceased in their search for answers and helped them in their pursuit of closure.
The series, titled ‘Cold Blood’, featured interviews with several individuals conducted by the Provoco Productions team.
The series was released on Showmax on 11 May 2023, 18 May 2023, and 25 May 2023.
The public response to the series was overwhelmingly positive.
Unfortunately, despite the exposure generated by the series, no evidence that conclusively solved the crime, was obtained.
Mr. Anthony Rangousis attempted to prevent the screening of the series but was unsuccessful.
The negative attitude displayed towards Mr. Bolhuis and his team by members of the South African Police Service, particularly the National Cold Case Investigation Unit, which is in possession of the murder docket, has not been conducive to fostering positive public relations or promoting constructive cooperation between the South African Police Service and the private security sector.
A senior police officer attached to the National Cold Case Investigation Unit went so far as to instruct the client who had mandated Specialised Security Services to assist with the investigation not to communicate with anyone associated with SSS.
(Such conduct by a government official is unacceptable and warrants investigation and possible disciplinary action.)
The fact remains that, despite the public statements made by Mrs. Mariska Oosthuizen, no arrests have yet been made in this matter.
The apparent hostility directed towards Mr. Bolhuis because of his public profile has negatively affected this investigation and has been detrimental to the pursuit of justice.
4. MEETING WITH MAJOR GENERAL (RET.) ANDRE WIESE
AT THE OFFICE OF MR. MIKE BOLHUIS -
27 OCTOBER 2022
On 27 October 2022, a meeting was held at the office of Mr. Mike Bolhuis.
Warrant Officer Jaco Scherman, attached to Crime Intelligence of the South African Police Service, confronted Major General (Ret.) Andre Wiese regarding his contact with Mrs. Renche Bate and questioned why he had failed to disclose this information to those actively involved in the investigation.
Major General (Ret.) Wiese acknowledged that he had maintained contact with Mrs. Renche Bate.
Warrant Officer Scherman further informed Major General (Ret.) Wiese that Mrs. Bate was directly implicated in the kidnapping and murder and that she had allegedly transferred money to individuals involved in the crime.
Major General (Ret.) Wiese responded by stating that Mrs. Bate feared for her life.
He further remarked that Mrs. Bate had experienced a difficult childhood.
Warrant Officer Scherman stated that Mrs. Bate should have submitted a statement to the investigating officer at Villiers long before then.
Warrant Officer Scherman recorded the discussion with Major General (Ret.) Wiese and subsequently handed both the recording and his statement to members of the South African Police Service.
These members were attached to the National Cold Case Investigation Unit.
During the meeting, Major General (Ret.) Wiese stated that Mrs. Renche Bate would not speak to anyone and that he was protecting her.
He further stated that he had to protect her because, if he did not, she would become the next woman to be murdered.
Major General (Ret.) Wiese made it clear that Mrs. Renche Bate was his source and that she was not to be approached without his knowledge.
5. CONFRONTATION OF MRS. RENCHE BATE BY WARRANT OFFICER JACO SCHERMAN -
1 NOVEMBER 2022
On 1 November 2022, an upset Major General (Ret.) Andre Wiese contacted SSS Col. (Ret.) Luke Enslin and informed him that Warrant Officer Jaco Scherman and an SSS investigator had confronted his source, Mrs. Renche Bate, without his knowledge.
Major General (Ret.) Wiese complained that they had instructed Mrs. Bate not to communicate with him because he was no longer a police officer and could no longer assist her.
He further stated that, while they were interviewing Mrs. Bate, her boyfriend at the time, Mr. Christofer Visser, contacted him and informed him that two individuals were questioning her regarding the investigation.
Major General (Ret.) Wiese requested SSS Col. (Ret.) Luke Enslin to instruct them to leave Mrs. Bate alone and to leave her residence.
SSS Col. (Ret.) Luke Enslin contacted the SSS investigator, who confirmed that they had indeed visited Mrs. Renche Bate.
SSS Col. (Ret.) Luke Enslin informed the investigator that the rest of the investigation team should have been advised before such an operation was undertaken.
The investigator apologised and explained that she had been unaware of their intended destination because Warrant Officer Scherman had not informed her beforehand.
She further advised that Warrant Officer Scherman had offered Mrs. Bate placement in the Witness Protection Programme.
Mrs. Bate declined the offer, stating that she had no knowledge whatsoever regarding the disappearance and murder of the late Mrs. Yolandi Botes.
This explanation contradicts the versions previously provided by Major General (Ret.) Wiese.
6. MEETING ARRANGED BY MAJOR GENERAL (RET.) ANDRE WIESE WITH MRS. RENCHE BATE,
AND BACKGROUND REGARDING MRS. BATE -
6 DECEMBER 2022
On 6 December 2022, after numerous requests, Major General (Ret.) Andre Wiese arranged a meeting with Mrs. Renche Bate in Edenvale, at which SSS Col. (Ret.) Luke Enslin was permitted to be present.
(It is unknown what Major General (Ret.) Wiese may have told Mrs. Bate regarding the attendance of SSS Col. (Ret.) Luke Enslin.)
Mrs. Renche Bate informed Major General (Ret.) Wiese that he was no longer trusted by Mr. Anthony Rangousis because Major General (Ret.) Wiese had broken off contact with him and Mr. Anthony Rangousis had subsequently found other people to assist him.
Mrs. Bate also stated that there had been a period during her own life when she had been reported as a missing person.
:Mrs. Bate stated that Mr. Anthony Rangousis had once asked her what would happen if a missing person was never found, to which she replied that, if no body was ever discovered, no crime could be proved.
She stated that this conversation had later caused her concern.
While speaking, a cell phone rang inside her handbag. As she searched for the ringing phone, she removed several other cell phones from her bag and smiled at SSS Col. (Ret.) Luke Enslin, remarking that they were "burner phones."
She answered the ringing cell phone and stated that she had to answer because "it was him." After the conversation, she remarked that she would see him a little later.
Mrs. Bate also stated that someone had asked Mr. Anthony Rangousis whether he wanted "Yolandi's clit ring."
She further stated that Mr. Anthony Rangousis was a pervert and that she feared him.
Sources informed SSS that Mrs. Renche Bate frequently boasted that she had numerous "sugar daddies," one of whom she referred to as "Ant." She allegedly stated that she feared him and no longer wished to have any involvement with him.
(The reference to "Ant" appears to refer to Mr. Anthony Rangousis. The late Mrs. Yolandi Botes also referred to Mr. Anthony Rangousis as "Ant.")
Another source informed SSS that Mrs. Renche Bate had allegedly boasted at a local drinking establishment in the Vaal Triangle that people who crossed her disappeared and were later found murdered. The same source further stated that she frequently bragged about the number of "sugar daddies" she had.
These sources requested to remain anonymous. Their identities are, however, known to SSS.
Major General (Ret.) Wiese's statement that Mrs. Renche Bate had experienced a difficult childhood was corroborated by another source, who confirmed that she had spent part of her childhood in an orphanage.
Mrs. Bate was later placed in foster care with a family in Meyerton.
Mrs. Bate informed several people that she would have featured in the Showmax series Cold Blood.
(This is the same series that Mr. Anthony Rangousis unsuccessfully attempted to prevent from being broadcast.)
LEGAL STATUS OF MAJOR GENERAL (RET.) ANDRE WIESE:
It has been established that Major General (Ret.) Andre Wiese is not a registered private investigator.
It has further been established that he is not a registered attorney.
INVOLVEMENT OF THE NATIONAL COLD CASE INVESTIGATION UNIT AND OTHER POLICE DIVISIONS:
It has been established that a member of the South African Police Service's National Cold Case Investigation Unit removed the closed docket relating to this matter from Villiers Police Station.
Enquiries made by Specialised Security Services were met with hostility and threats.
Mr. Mike Bolhuis addressed several letters to the National Cold Case Investigation Unit.
He also addressed correspondence to several other senior officers within the South African Police Service.
Mr. Mike Bolhuis and SSS Col. (Ret.) Luke Enslin met with Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya, Head of the Hawks, and handed him copies of previous correspondence relating to the disappearance and murder of Mrs. Yolandi Botes.
Lieutenant General Lebeya undertook to ensure that the documentation would be forwarded to the appropriate line functionary within the South African Police Service for further attention.
TO DATE, NO RESPONSE HAS BEEN RECEIVED FROM THE SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE; NAMELY THE NATIONAL COMMISSIONER, ANY DEPUTY NATIONAL COMMISSIONER, THE DIVISIONAL COMMISSIONER OF THE DETECTIVE SERVICE OR THE NATIONAL COMMANDER OF THE COLD SQUAD UNIT.
THE CONTINUED LACK OF RESPONSE FROM THE SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE AT NATIONAL LEVEL, SPECIALISED SECURITY SERVICES HAS BEEN LEFT WITH NO ALTERNATIVE BUT TO REPORT PROGRESS ON THIS KIDNAPPING AND MURDER THROUGH THIS PUBLIC AWARENESS PROJECT.
