PROJECT: STOLEN TOYOTA PRADO - JB 23 XX GP

A white Toyota Prado, registration number JB 23 XX GP, was stolen on Saturday, 2 August 2025,
at approximately 10:30 in the morning, from Hatfield Christian Church in Pretoria.
A criminal case has been opened at the Brooklyn Police Station, with the case number CAS 37/08/2025.
The suspects are believed to be driving a white Hyundai with registration number JZ 96 XS GP.
It is suspected that this is a falsified (cloned) registration number.
WHAT IS A FALSIFIED REGISTRATION NUMBER?
Criminals often use fake or cloned licence plates to avoid detection.
These plates may either be made up or copied from a legitimate vehicle of the same make and model to mislead law enforcement and surveillance systems.
Criminal syndicates often use other stolen vehicles, frequently fitted with falsified or cloned number plates, to target high-end luxury vehicles such as Toyota Prados.
These syndicates typically smuggle the stolen vehicles across South Africa’s borders, particularly into neighbouring countries.
Once stolen, the luxury vehicle may either be:
Hidden temporarily to allow the initial police search to “cool down,” or
Smuggled immediately using well-established cross-border routes.
These operations are highly coordinated and often involve corrupt officials, sophisticated tracking device jammers, and forged documentation.
