PROJECT: EXTREME VIOLENT CRIMES - MR. DONOVAN MARX

50-year-old cattle farmer Mr. Donovan Marx is in a critical but stable condition in the Potchefstroom Mediclinic
after an exceptionally brutal and gruesome farm attack on Wednesday, 28 October 2026.
The incident took place on his farm Syferfontein, which is located between Potchefstroom and Ventersdorp in the North West.
DETAILS OF THE ATTACK:
THE COURSE OF THE EVENTS:
The attack occurred in the morning between 08:00 and 09:00, Wednesday morning, just after Mr. Marx's wife, Louise, had left for work and while a farm worker was mowing grass.
THE ATTACKERS:
Three-armed men with masks over their faces appeared from behind the farmhouse.
THE WORKER:
The attackers tied up the farm worker. However, he was later able to free himself and raise the alarm. He is unharmed.
THE TORTURE:
Mr. Marx was shot in the back from behind, stabbed in his leg, and his ears were cut off during the attack. He was tortured in his house while the suspects ransacked the house looking for firearms and money.
THE ESCAPE:
The suspects fled the scene in Mr. Marx's red Isuzu bakkie (registration number: DJK 756 NW) and are still at large. They also took 3X 9 mm handguns from the safe and an amount of R6,000.00.
POLICE INVESTIGATION AND REWARD:
The police have launched a large-scale search for the three men.
The local agricultural community of Ventersdorp and Potchefstroom has meanwhile offered a reward of R40,000.00 for any information that could lead to the arrest and successful conviction of the suspects.

Mr. Donavan Marx and his wife, Louise, have asked SSS to assist with the investigation into the brutal farm attack.
Mrs. Louise Marx contacted Mr. Bolhuis about the investigation.
SSS and SAPS are actively following up on all information and intelligence received from the public.

REACTION AND POLITICAL OUTBURSTS:
The extreme brutality of this attack led to shock and anger nationwide:
Minister of Agriculture: Mr. Willie Aucamp demanded that the police treat farm attacks as a priority crime, saying: “This cruelty must never become our farmers' 'normal'!”
Compassionate organisations: The FF Plus (Dr. Corné Mulder) and AfriForum strongly condemned the attack. They once again called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to acknowledge the reality of farm murders and to take urgent action against incitement to violence (such as the chanting of "Kill the Boer").
