Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) is no longer just an animal health issue.

It has become a national crisis with severe consequences for farmers, rural communities, food security,

and the agricultural economy.

Since 2019, and escalating sharply from 2021, the disease has spread across most provinces.

Movement restrictions, cancelled auctions, and closed markets have left many farmers unable to trade,

through no fault of their own.
