Mr. Ockert Engelbrecht, long known for his fraudulent dealings, has finally been brought to justice.
SSS has dedicated significant resources to investigating Mr. Engelbrecht's criminal activities, forewarned the public,
and pursued the necessary legal avenues. That hard work has paid off.
On 31 July 2024, SSS Specialist Investigator Mr. Cecil Benadè arrested Mr. Ockert Engelbrecht
on charges of fraud and theft of a motor vehicle:
(Midrand SAPS CAS 104/07/2024).
On 10 June 2025, Mr. Engelbrecht was sentenced to six years in prison by the Alexandra Regional Court.
However, his legal troubles are far from over.
Mr. Engelbrecht is scheduled to appear again in the Pretoria Regional Court on 19 June 2025,
to face additional charges of fraud, theft, and misrepresentation.
He will remain in custody and continue to appear in court as required.
SSS remains steadfast in its mission to protect the public and uphold justice.
We will continue to pursue all criminal perpetrators with diligence and integrity.
Mr. Ockert Engelbrecht is a habitual criminal.
SSS has received numerous complaints regarding him.
SSS urges all victims of Mr. Ockert Engelbrecht to open a case at their nearest SAPS station and to contact
our specialist investigator, Mr. Ceceil Benadè.
In accordance with Section 110 of the Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977, related cases may be centralised under one jurisdiction to ensure a coordinated investigation and prosecution. This approach helps avoid duplication,
prevents conflicting judgments, and supports a stronger case for sentencing by presenting
the full scope of the accused’s alleged criminal conduct.

THE MOST RECENT CASE - FOR WHICH ENGELBRECHT WAS ARRESTED AND CONVICTED:
Mr. Ockert Engelbrecht promised to sell our client's vehicle on his behalf.
He advertised the vehicle, a white Mercedes-Benz, on Facebook Marketplace.
As soon as Mr. Engelbrecht received the vehicle to sell, he provided it as collateral for money he owed to someone else.
A case of vehicle theft has been opened.

Mr. Engelbrecht was arrested at his father's house in Pierre Van Ryneveld, Pretoria.
SSS works closely with the authorities to apprehend and arrest criminals.
