WARNING TO THE PUBLIC

In South Africa’s increasingly difficult economic climate, more individuals are turning to private loans,

informal business agreements, and trust-based investments to support small businesses and entrepreneurial projects. Unfortunately, many of these arrangements result in serious financial losses when money is borrowed under false pretences, projects are left incomplete, and repayment promises are never honoured. Cases involving alleged fraud, misrepresentation, breach of trust, and unpaid debts continue to place ordinary South Africans under severe financial pressure.

  • Specialised Security Services (SSS) was approached regarding allegations involving Mr. Andries Bruwer, who borrowed a substantial amount of money from a client under the representation that the funds would be used to complete business projects.

  • According to the information received, the client loaned Mr. Bruwer more than R700,000.00 in good faith to assist with the completion of trailer-building projects.

  • It was agreed that, once the projects were completed, the client would be repaid with interest.

  • The client reportedly assisted Mr. Bruwer out of goodwill and trust, as the parties moved within the same community circles and their children attended school together.

  • The client had no reason to suspect that the funds would not be repaid.

  • According to information provided to SSS, Mr. Bruwer is involved in the construction of specialised 4x4 trailers that are rented out to members of the public for holiday and off-road camping purposes.

  • The funds obtained from the client were intended for the construction of two additional trailers for commercial rental purposes.

  • SSS confronted Mr. Bruwer regarding the outstanding debt and the failure to repay the funds.

  • During discussions, Mr. Bruwer stated that business operations were struggling financially.

  • SSS then proposed that the trailers built using the client’s funds be surrendered to the client as compensation for the outstanding amount owed.

  • However, it was stated that the trailers had already been registered under the names of other companies and could therefore not be handed over.

  • SSS has furthermore received information suggesting that other individuals may also have experienced similar financial losses involving alleged project funding, borrowed money, and unpaid debts linked to Mr. Bruwer.

  • These allegations include claims that money was allegedly accepted for projects or business purposes, after which repayment obligations were allegedly not fulfilled.

It is important to note that allegations of this nature may potentially give rise to both civil and criminal proceedings,

depending on the evidence available. In South Africa, matters involving intentional misrepresentation, fraudulent inducement,

or the unlawful obtaining of money under false pretences may constitute criminal offences such as fraud or theft.

Victims may also institute civil claims to recover financial losses suffered.

Members of the public are strongly advised to exercise caution before entering into informal business agreements,

private loans, or trust-based investment arrangements without proper written contracts, legal protections, financial due diligence, and independent verification of business operations and assets. Even where longstanding personal relationships

or community ties exist, financial transactions should always be properly documented and legally secured.

Individuals who may have experienced similar incidents involving Mr. Andries Bruwer,

or who may possess relevant information regarding these allegations,

are encouraged to contact Specialised Security Services or Mike Bolhuis and the SSS Specialist Investigators.
