IDENTITY THEFT, IMPERSONATION AND EXTORTION

Specialised Security Services (SSS), under the direction of Mr. Mike Bolhuis, continues to receive complaints

concerning Mrs. Natascha Laing and Mr. Trevor Human. These complaints have renewed the need

to alert the public to the risks associated with identity misuse, impersonation, intimidation, extortion

and the exploitation of another person's name or reputation.

SSS previously published a public warning in 2022 under the project Identity Theft, Impersonators and Extortionists –

Mrs. Natascha Laing and Mr. Trevor Human. The warning addressed the unauthorised use of Mr. Bolhuis's name and reputation and expressly stated that Mrs. Laing was not affiliated with, or working for, Mr. Bolhuis, SSS or MLB Dienste.

The continued receipt of complaints makes it necessary to reiterate the importance of verifying claims,

preserving evidence and reporting suspected criminal conduct through appropriate channels.

Members of the public should not assume that a person is connected to SSS, has investigative authority

or has the backing of a recognised organisation merely because that person claims such an association. Read our initial project:

THE MISUSE OF TRUST AND CREDIBILITY:

  • Identity theft and impersonation can extend beyond the unauthorised use of photographs, names or social media profiles. A person's professional reputation, perceived authority and connections to recognised investigators or organisations can also be exploited to influence the decisions of others.

  • Where a person falsely claims to represent an investigator or organisation, the claim may be used to create fear, pressure another party into compliance, obtain money or influence the outcome of a personal or business dispute. If threats or demands are made to compel a person to pay money or perform an act, the circumstances may warrant investigation for extortion, intimidation, fraud or other offences, depending on the available evidence.

  • The unauthorised use of an established investigator's name can also damage the reputation of that investigator, undermine public confidence and expose unsuspecting individuals to further financial or personal harm.

ONGOING COMPLAINTS REQUIRE EVIDENCE-BASED INVESTIGATION:

  • SSS continues to receive complaints concerning Mrs. Laing and Mr. Human. Each complaint must be assessed on its own facts, with relevant communications, documents, payment records, witness accounts and other available evidence examined carefully.

  • Anyone who believes that they have been threatened, misled, defrauded or otherwise victimised should retain the original evidence and provide it to the SSS Specialist Investigators. Relevant material may include WhatsApp conversations, emails, social media profiles, voice notes, telephone numbers, bank statements, proof of payment, correspondence and the details of witnesses.

  • Complainants should record dates, times and the circumstances of each interaction. They should avoid deleting messages, altering original files or publicly circulating unverified accusations that could compromise an investigation or unfairly harm another person.

  • SSS encourages anyone with direct knowledge or supporting evidence relating to the current complaints to come forward through its official communication channels. Information will be handled sensitively, subject to applicable legal obligations and the requirements of a lawful investigation.

THE PUBLIC MUST VERIFY CLAIMS OF AFFILIATION:

  • SSS reiterates that no individual should be regarded as an authorised representative of Mr. Mike Bolhuis or Specialised Security Services merely because that person claims to have a personal relationship, professional association or investigative mandate.

  • Members of the public should independently verify such claims directly through the official SSS website and established contact details. Do not rely exclusively on telephone numbers, social media accounts, documents or contact details supplied by the person whose identity or authority is in question.

  • Be particularly cautious when someone:

    • Claims to represent Mr. Bolhuis or SSS without independently verifiable authorisation.

    • Uses an investigator's name, photograph, reputation or purported connections to SAPS to influence or intimidate another person.

    • Demands money under pressure or makes promises of guaranteed arrests, prosecution or other outcomes.

    • Threatens exposure, reputational damage or other consequences unless a demand is met.

    • Provides questionable documents, unverifiable credentials or inconsistent explanations about their authority.

    • Discourages independent verification or insists that communications remain secret to prevent scrutiny.

  • These warning signs do not, on their own, prove that a crime has occurred. They should, however, prompt careful verification and, where appropriate, a report to the relevant authorities.

POSSIBLE CRIMINAL AND LEGAL CONSEQUENCES:

  • Depending on the facts and available evidence, conduct involving deception, unlawful demands, threats or the misuse of another person's identity may engage South African criminal law. Potential offences may include fraud, extortion, intimidation, identity-related offences or offences involving the unlawful use of personal information.

  • The applicable offence and potential consequences depend on the particular conduct, the evidence and the legal requirements that must be established. Allegations must therefore be investigated and assessed on their merits, and criminal liability must not be presumed solely because a complaint has been made.

  • Anyone who has information relevant to suspected criminal conduct should report it to SAPS and retain the associated reference number. Where appropriate, SSS may assess information submitted to it and direct complainants to the relevant reporting channels.

PUBLIC APPEAL: INFORMATION AND COMPLAINTS REQUIRED:

  • SSS appeals to anyone who has experienced or witnessed conduct they believe may be connected to the matters involving Mrs. Natascha Laing and Mr. Trevor Human to provide factual information and supporting evidence.

  • In particular, SSS seeks information from people who may have:

    • Received communications in which either individual claimed an association with Mr. Mike Bolhuis or SSS.

    • Experienced threats, pressure, demands for money or other conduct they believe may constitute criminal behaviour.

    • Retained messages, recordings, documents, payment records or other material that could assist an investigation.

    • Witnessed relevant interactions or possess information that can be independently verified.

  • Please provide the dates, locations, communication details and supporting evidence available to you. Clearly distinguish what you personally experienced from information received from other people.

  • Do not confront the individuals, threaten them, trespass or attempt to conduct your own investigation. Do not publish private addresses, identity documents, banking information or unverified allegations on social media. Relevant information should be submitted privately to the appropriate investigative channels.

SSS requests that all information be provided in good faith and supported by evidence wherever possible.

The identity and safety of complainants should be protected, and information should be handled confidentially,

subject to applicable law.

The ongoing complaints concerning Mrs. Natascha Laing and Mr. Trevor Human reinforce the need

for continued public awareness, independent verification and evidence-based investigation.

SSS will continue to encourage people with relevant information to come forward through appropriate channels

rather than allowing uncertainty, intimidation or unverified claims to determine their actions.

The public should remain alert to the misuse of trusted names, professional reputations and claims of authority.

Verify before engaging, preserve evidence when misconduct is suspected and report relevant information

to the appropriate authorities.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: All potential clients need to be aware that owing to the nature of our work as specialist investigators there are people who have been caught on the wrong side of the law - who are trying to discredit me - Mike Bolhuis and my organisation Specialised Security Services - to get themselves off the hook. This retaliation happens on social media and creates doubt about our integrity and ability. Doubt created on social media platforms is both unwarranted and untrue. We strongly recommend that you make up your minds concerning me and our organisation only after considering all the factual information - to the exclusion of hearsay and assumptions. Furthermore, you are welcome to address your concerns directly with me should you still be unsatisfied with your conclusions. While the internet provides a lot of valuable information, it is also a platform that distributes a lot of false information. The distribution of false information, fake news, slander and hate speech constitutes a crime that can be prosecuted by law. Your own research discretion and discernment are imperative when choosing what and what not to believe.

STANDARD RULES APPLY: Upon appointment, we require a formal mandate with detailed instructions. Please take note that should you not make use of our services – you may not under any circumstance use my name or the name of my organisation as a means to achieve whatever end.
