PROJECT: DEATH INVESTIGATION - JACQUES STRAUSS

Specialised Security Services (SSS) received a missing person case on 13 May 2026,
involving Mr. Jacques Strauss. Late yesterday afternoon, SSS investigators spoke to Mr. Juan Strauss,
the brother of the deceased, regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to information currently available, Mr. Jacques Strauss was allegedly last seen on Wednesday evening,
6 May 2026, at approximately 23:00, when his white Kia Picanto reportedly entered the river at the “Drie Riviere” area.
An eyewitness allegedly observed the incident; however, the family could not immediately confirm
the credibility or accuracy of the witness statement, as the witness was reportedly accompanying the deceased
at the time of the incident. It is alleged that she was outside the vehicle when the vehicle entered the river.
Members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) Diving Unit attended the scene shortly after the incident was reported.
Due to the severe weather conditions and the strong flow of the river following heavy rainfall,
the vehicle could not initially be located.
The vehicle was successfully recovered from the river on Thursday,14 May 2026, with Mr Jacques Strauss inside.
SSS will continue to cooperate and work alongside SAPS regarding the ongoing investigation,
as the family suspects that possible irregularities may have contributed to the death of Mr. Strauss.
At this stage, all circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
SSS is therefore issuing this public project appeal and requests that any person who may have information regarding
the events leading up to the incident, the movements of Mr. Strauss before the incident,
or any suspicious circumstances surrounding the matter, immediately contact the relevant SSS investigators or the SAPS.
