PROJECT: EVERAFTER STUDIOS - SSS INVESTIGATION INTO CLIENT COMPLAINTS AND NON-DELIVERY OF SERVICES

Specialised Security Services (SSS) has received numerous complaints from clients regarding EverAfter Studios,
a wedding photography and videography business owned and operated by
Mr. Andre Badenhorst and his wife, Mrs. Aden Badenhorst.
THE COMPLAINTS:
The complaints vary and include allegations of failure to deliver photographic and video content, as well as the alleged refusal to refund clients who had paid money to EverAfter Studios despite services not being provided.
Complainants have also said that Mr. Andre Badenhorst and Mrs. Aden Badenhorst communicated aggressively with them and, in certain instances, made threats towards clients who were requesting information regarding service delivery and outstanding content from EverAfter Studios.
Clients further noted that they provided Mr. Badenhorst and Mrs. Badenhorst with external hard drives for the purpose of downloading photographs and other content.
When our clients later requested the return of their external hard drives, which remain their private property, Mr. Badenhorst allegedly refused to return them and stated that the matter was being handled by lawyers.
At this stage, the details surrounding the legal involvement remain unknown to SSS.
THE CONFRONTATION:
When SSS confronted Mr. Badenhorst regarding the complaints, he stated that he wanted the clients who were complaining about EverAfter Studios to take him to court.
He maintained that contracts existed between EverAfter Studios and the clients and that he would defend any case brought against him or the business in court.
However, when SSS made enquiries with certain clients, they stated that although they had signed contracts, the owners or representatives of EverAfter Studios had not signed their portion of the agreements.
SSS also visited the residential address of Mr. and Mrs. Badenhorst, where they were reportedly busy packing their belongings.
When asked where they were moving to, they stated that they had to move because funds were scarce.
SSS then confronted Mr. Badenhorst about the funds received from clients and asked how money received for services not provided had been utilised.
During further discussions, Mr. Badenhorst stated that it was not only the brides who had confronted them regarding the outstanding money, but also friends and family members of the brides, who were complaining about the money paid without the promised services being delivered.
Mr. Badenhorst also referred to what he described as a “hate group” that was threatening them and engaging in defamation of character and harassment.
He further maintained that EverAfter Studios had never missed a wedding for which they had been booked.
SSS also confronted Mr. Badenhorst regarding allegations that clients had booked EverAfter Studios, but that another photographer, who did not work for EverAfter Studios and who had not previously met the clients, arrived on the wedding day to take photographs.
According to the complaints received, clients had previously discussed their specific photographic requirements and expectations with EverAfter Studios.
However, the photographs received afterwards did not always reflect the style and requirements requested by the clients.
Mr. Andre Badenhorst explained that there had been sickness in the family and emergencies that required their attention, resulting in them arranging for another photographer to take over certain assignments.
SSS pointed out that clients had entered into agreements with EverAfter Studios and that the use of an unknown photographer, without prior agreement or consultation with the client, could potentially raise contractual concerns.
Mr. Badenhorst confirmed that they would provide full cooperation regarding the ongoing complaints received against their company.
During a later attempt to contact and confront Mr. Badenhorst regarding the matter, he stated that he and Mrs. Badenhorst had moved in with his mother-in-law in the Montana area.
However, he refused to provide the specific address, stating that it was his mother-in-law's residence and that he did not wish to confirm their exact place of residence.
For approximately a week and a half, Mr. Badenhorst has not answered telephone calls from SSS, despite previously returning calls when contacted.
SSS will continue attempting to contact Mr. Andre Badenhorst and Mrs. Aden Badenhorst regarding the complaints
received against EverAfter Studios. They have indicated that they are prepared to defend themselves in court
should legal proceedings be instituted in relation to the allegations made against them.
SSS has information regarding the possible complex where Mr. and Mrs. Badenhorst may currently be staying with family. However, the specific unit or residence still needs to be confirmed. The complex is a security-controlled residential complex, and SSS understands that they may currently be residing there temporarily with family.
VETTING WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOGRAPHY BUSINESSES:
The complaints received by Specialised Security Services (SSS) highlight the importance of exercising caution before paying substantial amounts for wedding photography and videography services.
SSS recommends that prospective clients conduct basic verification of the business and its owners before entering into an agreement.
A properly signed contract should clearly record the services to be provided, payment terms, delivery timeframes, cancellation and refund provisions, and whether subcontractors or replacement photographers may be used.
Clients should confirm who will perform the work, make payments through traceable channels, and retain the contract, invoices, proof of payment and relevant communications.
Any client-owned property provided to the service provider should also be documented and its return clearly agreed.
Multiple independent complaints involving similar allegations of non-delivery, prolonged delays, refund disputes or aggressive responses should be regarded as a warning sign and should prompt further enquiries before additional funds are committed.
A complaint or negative review does not, on its own, establish criminal conduct or civil liability, and each matter must be assessed on its own facts and evidence.
It is also important to distinguish between a contractual dispute and criminal conduct. Failure to deliver a service does not automatically constitute fraud or theft.
The circumstances, available evidence and applicable law must be considered in each individual matter.
The objective of proper vetting is preventative: clients should understand who they are contracting with, what they are paying for, what obligations have been agreed to, and what evidence exists of the transaction.
