THE FACEBOOK "JOURNALIST" BEGGING FOR R20.00 WHILE HIDING A TRAIL
OF DECEPTION, ILLEGAL DATA AND HATE
In the age of social media, the line between journalism and manipulation has never been thinner.
Anyone with a smartphone and a flair for outrage can claim the title of "investigator."
But few have perfected the art of exploiting public sympathy quite like the Facebook page calling itself Baas Kruger.
With 207,000 followers, a name that deliberately evokes apartheid-era power dynamics, and a daily feed of unverified “explosive” claims, Baas Kruger presents herself as a fearless revolutionary journalist. She claims to expose corrupt politicians, drug dealers, and murderers. She says her work is so dangerous that she cannot hold a normal job.
But a four-month forensic investigation by Specialised Security Services (SSS) has revealed a far darker truth.
Baas Kruger is not a journalist. She is a financially engineered fraudster with a performance of poverty and
persecution designed to extract small, recurring donations. But beyond the grift, she is also a peddler of dangerous misinformation, a possessor of illegal police data, a serial violator of private citizens' privacy,
and a purveyor of xenophobic and race-driven hate.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE MASK:
The investigation, led by Mr. Mike Bolhuis's cybercrime division, has positively identified the operator of the page.
She is Sbahle Mhlongo and she is connected to Eddie Dean Willemse, a 38-year-old male from KwaZulu-Natal.
Forensic data confirms the link through multiple independent sources: login credentials, a linked Capitec bank account (2464080000), device data forensics, and linked phone numbers ****49 6447 and ****94 6612.
The email used to operate the page - flo***ce696@yahoo.com - was created using the first name of Eddie's deceased mother, (who passed away in 2005), indicating a deliberate effort to conceal his true identity.
Eddie's sister, Shirley Portia Willemse, is a director of multiple companies (including "Zuma For President 22") and shared addresses with Eddie, suggesting possible administrative support for the operation.
A review of Baas Kruger's posts reveals a mechanical cycle:
January 10: "My metre is on 0:0… even if I can raise R20 just to get home."
January 15: "I need R200 more because the screen is R300… I have files on the Wandile Bozwana murder."
January 22: An urgent notice for the first R239 installment of a "new Samsung A24," warning the phone will be shut off.
April 30: A request for R700 for his daughter's rent, claiming the landlord will evict her.
May 2026: Another post: "My metre is on 0:0 & I don't have any food left… please send R50 or R100."
Notice the pattern: A crisis is announced. A small, urgent amount is requested. The admin claims to possess explosive information that cannot be released without donations. And when the next crisis hits, the process repeats.
There is never a resolution. Only the next plea.
THE VERIFIED CONTRADICTIONS:
While Baas Kruger claims destitution, forensic evidence tells a different story:

The subjects are not broke. They are performing broke.
WEAPONISING MISINFORMATION: MIXING FACTS TO MANUFACTURE OUTRAGE
Beyond the financial deception, Baas Kruger deliberately engineers confusion.
She routinely posts information stripped of context, mixes verifiable facts with complete fabrications, and presents the blended result as an "exclusive."
In one post, she claims "25 fake asylum seeker permits" were found in a single Soweto raid—but provides no police statement, no case number, and no verifiable source.
The accompanying document is a single refugee permit that she has deliberately misrepresented.
In another, she publishes a screenshot of a SAPS person trace for a "Godslove Moyo" and declares it "PROOF OF ANC COUNCILOR & JOBURG MMC GODSLOVE MOYO'S IDENTITY FRAUD." The document shows nothing of the sort. It merely displays a name variation—a common occurrence in South African records. But her followers, primed for outrage, do not ask for evidence. They react.
In another instance, she publishes information about a company named FDA and an alleged scandal, claiming the company looted R50 billion from the SAPS in a software deal, but the information published is out of context, incorrect, and misleading.
This is not investigation. This is manipulation through deliberate disinformation.
ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF RESTRICTED POLICE DATA:
Perhaps most alarmingly, Baas Kruger has repeatedly published screenshots and documents that appear to be sourced directly from internal South African Police Service (SAPS) systems—information she is not legally authorised to possess or distribute.
These include:
SAPS person traces (restricted records showing ID numbers, birth dates, and other personal identifiers)
Internal forensic data analysis committee documents (reproduced with formatting consistent with official police correspondence)
Alleged investigative case files containing third-party personal information
Accessing and distributing information from SAPS internal systems without authorisation is a criminal offence in South Africa.
It is not whistleblowing. It is not journalism.
It is the unlawful possession and dissemination of restricted state data.
If Baas Kruger truly obtained these documents through legitimate means—such as a protected whistleblower disclosure—she would be able to explain her source. She never does. Instead, she hides behind vague claims of "sources feeding her dangerous information."
The most likely explanation is the simplest: She has obtained, or is being fed, restricted police data through unauthorised channels. And she is publishing it for profit.
DOXXING AND THE DESTRUCTION OF PRIVATE LIVES:
Baas Kruger routinely publishes the personal and private information of private individuals who are not public figures.
This includes:
Full names and ID numbers.
Dates of birth.
Residential addresses.
Employment details.
Alleged criminal histories (unsubstantiated).
This practice—known as doxxing—is not protected speech.
It is a targeted act of harassment that exposes individuals to real-world harm, including vigilantism, loss of employment, and physical danger.
In one post, she published a screenshot of a private individual's personal details alongside an allegation of misconduct.
No court conviction was provided. No right of reply was offered. No evidence was substantiated. The person named was simply thrown to the wolves of her 207,000-follower audience.
This is not accountability journalism. This is digital lynching.
XENOPHOBIA AND RACE BAITING: HATE AS A REVENUE STREAM
The name "Baas Kruger" is itself a racial dog whistle—a deliberate echo of apartheid-era master-servant power dynamics.
The content matches the branding.
Her posts frequently target foreign nationals, particularly African immigrants, framing them as criminals and "illegals" who are overrunning the country.
In one post, she declares that "25 fake asylum seeker permits" were found in Soweto—without any evidence—inviting her followers to draw xenophobic conclusions.
She posts images of refugee permits with mocking commentary. She amplifies unverified claims of foreign nationals committing crimes.
She presents isolated incidents as systemic crises.
The goal is not public safety.
The goal is rage-driven engagement—because rage drives shares, and shares drive donations.
This is not journalism. This is the monetisation of hate.
FACEBOOK HAS ALREADY FLAGGED THE PAGE:
Facebook has already acted against Baas Kruger.
The platform has demonetised her account, removed her ability to earn "stars" (virtual tips), and shadow-banned her posts.
Baas Kruger calls this persecution.
She claims she "doesn't understand why" because she "posts proof alongside her articles."
But social media platforms do not lightly remove monetisation from accounts with millions of views.
The most common reasons: repeated sharing of unverified information, violation of community standards (including hate speech), and attempts to game the system.
Facebook's algorithms have correctly identified her as a liability.
THE WHISTLEBLOWER SHIELD: WEAPONISING FEAR
Whenever scepticism arises, Baas Kruger deploys the same defence: she is too dangerous to question.
"I deal with issues even police have been murdered for."
"I expose extremely dangerous people… killers, drug dealers & corrupt powerful people."
"That is why I can't do regular walk-in work."
This serves two functions: it discourages followers from asking hard questions, and it justifies why she cannot hold a normal job.
But no evidence has ever been provided that any of her "investigations" have led to arrests, prosecutions, or policy changes.
When pressed, she falls back on vague references to "whistleblowers" and "ongoing legal cases."
WHAT THE INVESTIGATORS FOUND NEXT:
Criminal proceedings are now underway with cases being registered against the individuals responsible for the management of the Facebook page.
The investigation has uncovered significant information about the individuals operating the page.
Public donations are paid into private bank accounts without proper disclosure or regulation.
This is against the law.
A WARNING TO THE PUBLIC:
If you follow Baas Kruger, ask yourself these questions:
Why are donation requests always urgent, but the crises never end?
Why does she post screenshots from restricted SAPS system information she is not legally allowed to possess?
Why does she publish the private ID numbers and addresses of private citizens who have not been convicted of any crime?
Why does her content consistently target foreign nationals and racial groups in a way that fuels hatred rather than understanding?
The truth does not beg. The truth proves.
And the truth does not need to traffic in stolen police data or xenophobic dog whistles to make its case.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO NOW:
CEASE ALL DONATIONS IMMEDIATELY:
Do not send money to Capitec account 2464080000, eWallet, or any Cash Send requests from Baas Kruger.
REPORT THE PAGE to Meta/Facebook for: fraudulent solicitation, hate speech, doxxing (sharing private personal information), and the posting of restricted or illegally obtained data.
SHARE THIS REPORT. The only way to stop a disinformation machine is to turn on the lights.

Social media gave ordinary people a voice. That is not the problem.
The problem is when that voice is weaponised—when hate becomes a revenue stream, private lives are destroyed for clicks, restricted police data is trafficked for profit, and truth becomes an afterthought.
Do not donate to the performance. Do not share the hate.
And never send money to someone who hides behind a false persona while asking you to trust them.
