On 14 March 2025, Specialised Security Services published a project about Mr. Anthonie Bougas and the alleged KleuterZone Ponzi scheme. The project detailed the allegations of fraud against KleuterZone director Mr. Anthonie Bougas. Since the publication of the initial project, SSS has been inundated with complaints from the public, mostly pertaining to investments that were not paid out as per the signed agreements between the complainants and KleuterZone.

Not all complaints that were received against Mr. Anthonie Bougas detailed allegations of fraud, one also complained of extreme extortion, intimidation and death threats by Mr. Anthonie Bougas and his brother Mr. John Bougas.
Our client was involved in a business transaction with the Bougas brothers until March 2025.
As part of the transaction our client received R4,000,000.00 from Mr. Anthonie Bougas which was paid into an attorney's trust account.
Late in February 2025, our client became aware of the allegations that were made in the media against Mr. Anthonie Bougas.
It was around the same time that Mr. Anthonie Bougas asked to cancel the transaction with our client.
Our client became concerned about receiving money that could possibly be from ill-gotten gains; thus, our client agreed that the R4,000,000.00 in the attorney's trust account could be returned to Mr. Bougas.
Though our client initially agreed to return the R4,000,000.00 in the trust account to Mr. Anthonie Bougas, the money could not be released as Mr. Bougas did not comply with FICA requirements.
In the meantime, our client also became aware of the pending liquidation of KleuterZone, as well as the fact that Mr. Anthonie Bougas had left South Africa.
It was at this time that our client instructed the attorneys to keep the money in the trust account safe, and to not pay it out to Mr. Anthonie Bougas under any circumstances.
Our client indicated to Mr. Anthonie Bougas that he would have to comply with the FICA requirements before the money could be released from the trust account, and at this stage, the situation escalated drastically.
OUR CLIENT RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING MESSAGES ON WHATSAPP FROM MR. JOHN BOUGAS:
“There will be issues if you don’t pay the money or answer me before 9am tomorrow”
Our client understood this message to be a threat, which prompted him to contact Mr. Anthonie Bougas to inform him of the message he received from his brother. To which Mr. Anthonie Bougas responded:
“Speak to my brother, he is in South Africa”.
The following day our client received the following threatening WhatsApp messages from unknown phone numbers:
“Please brother pay the money before all this goes south”
“Please brother pay the money before this week ends”
“We know everything about you and have been following you for a week, grandchildren and family, you have until tomorrow to pay 8bar, you are nothing, don’t mess with a friend of mine, banking details will be sent later”
“We take life for a living”
Our client contacted Mr. Anthonie Bougas to inform him of the messages he received, to which Mr. Anthonie Bougas replied:
“Ons het regtig die fondse nodig, dit is ons eie fondse want die besigheid se fondse gaan terug na beleggers, Ek vermoed hulle gaan die rekening vries een of ander tyd, daarom moet ons dit gou afhandel”
Our client contacted Mr. John Bougas to ask him who the people were that sent the messages to him, to which Mr. John Bougas replied:
“Genoeg vrae, Anthonie soek sy geld!”
To buy himself time, our client told Mr. John Bougas that he would get the paperwork ready to transfer the funds to Mr. Anthonie Bougas, to which Mr. John Bougas replied:
“You are lucky, this could have been far worse if you refused to pay the money, as long as everything is sorted by tomorrow, things will be okay”
The following day, our client was contacted by the gate security of the security complex where he resides.
The security informed him that a vehicle with heavily armed men attempted to gain access to the complex to visit his residence.
Access was refused, but the security felt intimidated by the show of force and automatic weapons.
Soon after, our client received the following video from an unknown phone number on WhatsApp:
It was at this stage that our client decided to contact Specialised Security Services for assistance.
The SSS Task Team conducted a thorough risk assessment and platform investigation, after which the Bougas brothers were informed of our involvement.
They were warned about the criminality of their actions, and the funds were placed in secure protection until the investigation was completed.
The SSS Task Team assisted our client in opening a criminal case with the SAPS.
The parties who were instructed by the Bougas brothers to intimidate our client with threats and automatic weapons have been identified as a private security company that primarily provide protection to taxi owners; they operate along the coastline from Durban to Cape Town.
Specialised Security Services have taken steps to report the actions of this company to PSIRA and to the SAPS.
Furthermore, an in-depth investigation into this incident is being conducted as SSS has reason to believe that additional victims may have received similar treatment from the Bougas brothers, especially since news of the KleuterZone business collapse surfaced, and Mr. Anthonie Bougas has shown that he will do anything to get his hands on money before it is seized in the liquidation process.
WARNING TO THE PUBLIC:
Do not allow yourself to be intimidated or extorted by the Bougas brothers, especially if it is to move you into hiding assets or moving funds illegally.

It is illegal to intimidate or threaten someone with physical harm, even if you do not intend to act on the threat.

Families are now living in complete uncertainty, not knowing where their children will go to school next, while staff members are left wondering if they will ever receive their salaries. Investors have lost large sums of money and are desperate for answers.
