This office was approached by concerned parents, teachers, and learners in October 2024 to assist
with an investigation into matters affecting learners, teachers, and the reputation of Hoërskool Waterkloof.
All information was gathered and a detailed report was forwarded to the Member of the Executive Council (MEC)
for Education in Gauteng. Complaints laid against the principal, Mr. Denysschen includes inappropriate behaviour towards teachers as well as towards learners. All complaints were directed against the principal, not Hoërskool Waterkloof.
The principal, Mr. Chris Denysschen, returned to the school on 13 December 2024 after a 90-day suspension
during which the investigation was conducted by the Department of Education.
A disciplinary hearing was postponed a few times, but the official arbitration hearing started
on Wednesday, 25 June 2025, according to Section 188A of the Labour Relations Act, Act 66 of 1995.
The decision was made by the Department of Education to remove Mr. Denysschen from the school premises
after alleged complaints were received of interference with witnesses.
He was temporarily transferred to the department pending the arbitration hearing.
The arbitration hearing proceeded, and Mr. Denysschen was dismissed from his position at the start of the 2026 school year. He was found guilty on four of the six charges against him.
He is, however, appealing against the outcome of the hearing.
The School Governing Body is currently in communication with the Department of Education
about the appointment of a new principal.
This office welcomes the outcome of the arbitration hearing and would like to emphasise that no learner,
teacher, or parent should remain silent about inappropriate behaviour or treatment
within the school environment and should always speak out.
Report any such behaviour for investigation and always tell the truth.
