BACKGROUND:
Mrs. Jacomina Margaretha Catharina (Ina) Pretorius is a divorced lady who used to reside at Crots Street, Rietfontein, where she used to operate a guest house to generate income.
She initially approached Specialised Security Services (SSS) to assist with various personal and legal cases: investigation, protection services, etc.
One of these cases involved the investigation of the death of her late ex-husband, who was killed during an armed robbery at a lodge in Tonteldoos, Dullstroom, on 27 November 2020.
At the time, Mrs. Pretorius suspected foul play and accused the deceased's new wife of involvement.
However, the police investigation confirmed that the incident was indeed a robbery, and the new wife was never considered a suspect.
SERIOUS COMPLICATIONS AT THE GUEST HOUSE:
While managing her guest house, Mrs. Pretorius encountered ongoing issues with tenants who refused to pay rent.
Mrs. Pretorius opened cases of theft and intimidation against the tenants, which the SSS Specialist Investigators proved to be false.
Mrs. Pretorius struggled financially because of huge municipal debts and owed money to many other parties.
She also "sold" the guesthouse several times, taking the deposits whilst not really selling the property – this constitutes fraud.
Allegedly, certain self-proclaimed businessmen living on the property tried to defraud Mrs. Pretorius in turn under the pretence of helping her to sell the house.
Mrs. Ina Pretorius has a strained relationship with her neighbour, involving disputes over electricity connections, which served to compound matters.
She also arranged for illegal electricity connections.
She did not pay for her electricity and utility bills.
Mrs. Pretorious contacted several service providers for renovations to her property, services for which she never paid.
FURTHER ISSUES AFTER RELOCATION:
After relocating to the Western Cape, Mrs. Pretorius appointed a property agent and granted them a sole mandate to market her Rietfontein property.
A new tenant moved in under a lease agreement, with an option to purchase.
The tenant invested considerable money into refurbishing the property.
Soon after, problems began when individuals were sent to the property by Mrs. Pretorius, demanding the keys from the tenants and instructing them to vacate the property.
The new tenant uncovered that Mrs. Pretorius was indebted to various businesses and people and had an outstanding municipal debt, including a summons delivered by the Sheriff of the Court for R600,286.95 owed to the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality.
The new tenant then appointed SSS to protect them against Mrs. Pretorius and to investigate her fraudulent dealings.
While living in the Cape, Mrs Pretorius went to the Reebok SAPS and made a false sworn statement listing numerous individuals (previous tenants/previous "buyers") claiming that they owed her money and branding them as "skelms" (scammers).
Mrs. Pretorius had altercations with previous service providers and also with SSS.
Mrs. Pretorius accused them of a variety of crimes, which in fact she was committing herself.
Mrs. Pretorius’ false accusations have damaged the reputations of everyone involved with her.
SSS views these defamatory claims as a deliberate attempt to discredit people with whom she has business dealings.
Mrs. Ina Pretorius has no intention of selling her property or of paying her municipal debts.
She draws people in on the pretence of being an honest businesswoman.
Her modus operandi has proven to be that of misrepresentation, fraud and theft.
Members of the public are warned to be very careful in business dealings they participate in –
especially when Mrs. Pretorius is involved.
