Mr. Mike Bolhuis and Specialised Security Services (SSS) continue to receive numerous complaints regarding

high-frequency scams targeting local and international victims.

These investigations have identified the habitual criminal Mr. Hugo Ras as the primary orchestrator,

operating with sophisticated resilience even while incarcerated.

LATEST COURT APPEARANCE: 13 APRIL 2026

On Monday, 13 April 2026, Mr. Hugo Ras briefly appeared in the Pretoria High Court. The proceedings highlighted the following:
- NEW LEGAL REPRESENTATION:
  - Mr. Hugo Ras has terminated his previous mandate with Legal Aid South Africa and appointed a new legal team consisting of Mrs. Jeanette Henson-du Toit and Adv. Mr. Piet Pretorius.
  - This is the same legal team representing the controversial figure Mr. Louis Liebenberg.
- BAIL REVOCATION:
  - State prosecutor Adv. Mrs. Patsy Cloete confirmed that the state is proceeding with an application to formally cancel the bail of Mr. Hugo Ras and have the bail amount forfeited to the state.
  - This follows his failure to appear in court in October 2025, which led to his current re-arrest and detention.
- UPCOMING TRIAL:
  - The court noted that a date for the trial of Mr. Hugo Ras on more than 130 charges—including racketeering, theft, money laundering, and illegal possession of rhino horns and elephant tusks—had been previously set for later this year.

CURRENT CUSTODIAL STATUS: KGOSI MAMPURU II

MAXIMUM SECURITY (C-MAX):
- Mr. Hugo Ras is currently held at the Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre (known as "New Lock" or "Gossi") in Pretoria.
TRANSFER REASONING:
- Due to the persistent use of contraband technology by Mr. Hugo Ras to manage criminal enterprises from his cell, he remains in the C-Max maximum-security unit to curtail his access to the outside world.
UNSUCCESSFUL APPEAL:
- In April 2025, a court application seeking the transfer of Mr. Hugo Ras out of the C-Max unit was dismissed, confirming the Department of Correctional Services’ intent to restrict his ability to coordinate external frauds.

LATEST MODUS OPERANDI: IN-PRISON RACKETEERING

Evidence from recent forensic investigations and cell raids (most recently on 17 November 2025) confirms that Mr. Hugo Ras is managing multiple scams using contraband mobile devices and an iPad:

1. THE "HYDE INSURANCE" & "TWIDDY ACCOUNTANCY" SCHEMES:

THE TRAP:
- Mr. Hugo Ras contacts victims regarding "outstanding payments" or "debt consolidations," providing photos of handwritten ledgers (often labelled as "Mr. Louis") to build a facade of legitimacy.
THE PRESSURE TACTIC:
- Mr. Hugo Ras claims there is a small "shortfall" (often cited as R354.00) that must be paid immediately before a morning deadline (e.g., 08:00 AM) to release a much larger payout.
FRAUDULENT BANKING DETAILS:
- Capitec Bank: Hyde Insurance Brokers (Account: 1357913433).
- ABSA Bank: Twiddy Accountancy (Account: 4118418729).
SYNDICATE ASSOCIATES:
- These scams often involve associates such as Mrs. Belinda Greeff, who act as intermediaries or "buffers" for Mr. Hugo Ras.

2. INTERNATIONAL HUNTING AND SAFARI FRAUD:

ALIASES USED:
- Mr. Hugo Ras uses social media identities such as "Mr. Johan van der Westhuizen," "Mr. Willem Prinsloo," and "Ndlovu Wildlife Safaris".
THE SCAM:
- Mr. Hugo Ras uses stolen photos of legitimate hunting lodges to lure clients from the U.S. and Eastern Europe to pay deposits ranging from $10,000 to $25,000 for non-existent safari packages.

3. ALLEGATIONS OF SEXTORTION AND EXTORTION:

Recent intelligence suggests Mr. Hugo Ras is involved in sextortion rings.
THE METHOD:
- Stolen identities of attractive women are used to lure men into online conversations that quickly become explicit.
- Once explicit material is obtained, perpetrators demand money and threaten exposure.
SAPS IMPERSONATION:
- Information indicates that individuals working with Mr. Hugo Ras may be impersonating SAPS officials to intimidate victims into paying "fines" to avoid fabricated criminal charges.

CRITICAL EVIDENCE AND NEW SAPS CASES:

The scale of the ongoing activities of Mr. Hugo Ras has necessitated the registration of new criminal cases at the Sutherland SAPS:

CAS 41/8/2025: Theft of Livestock (Registered 2025-08-22).
CAS 31/11/2025: Fraud (Registered 2025-11-18).
Active Contraband Number: Mr. Hugo Ras has been identified using the mobile number +27 69 417 3971 from within his cell to coordinate these frauds.

SSS INTERVENTION AND PUBLIC WARNING

Mr. Mike Bolhuis and his team are working in direct collaboration with the Department of Correctional Services and

Mr. Pieter Groenewald to ensure that the ability of Mr. Hugo Ras to communicate is permanently disabled.

Complete investigative files have also been forwarded to the FBI and the Hawks (DPCI) due to

the cross-border nature of the international scams managed by Mr. Hugo Ras.

Victims and the public should not live in fear of Mr. Hugo Ras.
