THE CASE:
Mr. Christopher Newcombe Bond allegedly operates as a fraudulent businessman, using complex contracts and false business premises to lend legitimacy to schemes in which he accepts significant payments for goods and services that he fails to deliver.
CASE 1: ALLEGED BUSINESS LOAN
On 4 April 2025, R30,000.00 was lent to Mr. Newcombe Bond in good faith, with a promise of repayment.
Despite repeated follow-ups and an arrangement via SSS investigator Mr. Reinier van Dijk, Mr. Newcombe Bond failed to return the funds.
WhatsApp conversations and proof of payment evidence confirm the fraudulent conduct.
CASE 2: GOODS NOT DELIVERED
Under a formal Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA No: GX/AC/CrO2/CONCENTRATE/1YRS/RSA/DAP/001), Mr. Newcombe Bond’s company, Assegai Capital (Pty) Ltd, accepted a R140,000.00 holding deposit on 24 February 2025.
Assegai Capital (Pty) Ltd was deregistered on 14 February 2025, ten days prior to receiving the funds, rendering the agreement unlawful.
An additional R42,949.05 was paid to Assegai Utilities (Pty) Ltd on 3 February 2025, the company closed on 10 February 2025.
Total loss in this case: R182,949.05, with no goods delivered despite contractual promises of 2,000 metric tons of Chrome Concentrate per month.
TOTAL CONFIRMED LOSSES:
Across both cases investigated by SSS: R212,949.05 in confirmed, undelivered payments.
IMPACT AND SIGNIFICANCE:
This case highlights how sophisticated fraud schemes exploit trust and corporate structures to deceive victims.
SSS urges businesses and individuals to conduct thorough due diligence before entering into any financial agreement.
