ONGOING SSS INVESTIGATION:
Mr. Nicolas Machiel Vorster is the Chief Executive Officer of Vorster Labour Law Consult t/a Labour Wise, formerly operating from Vereeniging, Gauteng.
During 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Vorster was appointed by our client to assist with applications and administration relating to the Temporary Employer/Employee Relief Scheme (TERS) relief funds.
In November 2024, Mr. Vorster contacted our client after allegedly receiving communication from Izala Verifications advising that a TERS audit was being conducted on the client's company.
He submitted a quotation of R3,800.00 for professional assistance with the audit, which our client accepted.
Thereafter, Mr. Vorster remained in contact with our client and advised that an amount of R513,033.41, allegedly required by TERS and the GRF Fund for purposes of the audit, had to be paid to him to ensure compliance with the audit process.
Acting on Mr. Vorster's instructions and representations, our client transferred the amount of R513,033.41 into his nominated account, believing the funds would be utilised to comply with the TERS audit requirements and facilitate the resolution of the COVID-19 relief fund matter.
Our client subsequently contacted Izala Verifications directly and was informed that they had not received a payment or documentation from Mr. Vorster regarding the audit.
Mr. Vorster thereafter undertook to refund the amount to our client; however, despite these assurances, no repayment has been made.
SSS Investigator Mr. Morney Vos visited Mr. Vorster's last known business address in Vereeniging.
The security officer at the premises advised that Vorster Labour Law Consult t/a Labour Wise had vacated the premises and relocated to an unknown address.
SSS Investigator Mr. Vos made several attempts to contact Mr. Vorster telephonically and via WhatsApp.
To date, these attempts have been unsuccessful, and no response has been received.
A criminal case of fraud has been registered with the South African Police Service at Benoni SAPS under Case No. 471/05/2025.
