PROJECT: PUBLIC WARNING - RODNEY CHARL VAN RENSBURG OPERATING ILLEGALLY AND DEFRAUDING THE PUBLIC THROUGH ISS INVESTIGATIONS

1. PRIMARY ALERT AND IDENTITY DISCLOSURE:
This is a high-priority "RED ALERT" warning issued by Specialised Security Services (SSS) to the public, corporate entities, and law enforcement.
We are formally exposing the persistent, predatory, and criminal activities of Mr. Rodney Charl van Rensburg.
Despite a previous formal warning issued by our office in June 2024, Mr. Van Rensburg has proven himself to be a dedicated recidivist, showing a total disregard for the law and the safety of the public.
He continues to solicit investigative work under false pretences, specifically targeting emotionally vulnerable individuals.
PERSONAL IDENTIFIERS:

PSIRA Number: 144956
Legal Status: ILLEGAL.
His PSIRA certificate expired on 20 May 2023.
His status is currently listed as "Pending Renewal."
We must be explicitly clear: a "pending" status is not a license to operate. Under the Private Security Industry Regulation Act, performing any security or investigative service without an active, valid certificate in hand is a criminal offence.
Mr. Van Rensburg leverages his Grade A status and various special qualifications—including Cash in Transit, Response Security Officer, and Instructor Training—to present a veneer of professional legitimacy.
This "specialist" branding is a calculated tool used to deceive victims into believing they are hiring a high-level expert, when they are in fact engaging an unlicensed operator.
2. CORPORATE ENTITIES AND CONTACT CHANNELS:
To evade detection and continue his fraudulent operations, Mr. Van Rensburg utilises various corporate shells and digital platforms.
The public is warned that his son, Mr. Jonathan Charl van Rensburg, co-director in these entities.
The public must remain vigilant to ensure the scam does not simply continue under the son's name.

3. DETAILED MODUS OPERANDI: THE "KNOCK AND SCAM"
Mr. Van Rensburg’s conduct is a textbook example of predatory behaviour that SSS is committed to eradicating.
His "Knock and Scam" operation follows a precise psychological pattern designed to extract money and silence dissent:
THE HOOK:
He advertises high-tech surveillance and expertise in sensitive matrimonial/infidelity matters.
THE DEPOSIT:
He demands immediate "initial" deposits (typically R7,000) with promises to start work the very next morning.
THE PSYCHOLOGICAL MANIPULATION:
If a client dares to question the lack of progress, Van Rensburg turns the blame on them.
He weaponises the client’s anxiety, labelling them "heavy arrogant" or "impatient" to make them feel at fault for his own failure to deliver.
THE FRAUDULENT EVIDENCE:
Instead of surveillance logs or photos, he provides "TrueCaller" screenshots—information available to any person for free.
He misrepresents these free digital scraps as "forensic investigative work" to justify the theft of the deposit.
THE SCALE:
This is not an isolated service failure.
SSS has received proof of more than 15 disgruntled clients in a single week who have been scammed by this operator.
4. PATTERN OF INTIMIDATION AND BLACKMAIL:
When victims realise they have been defrauded and demand a refund, Mr. Van Rensburg shifts from deception to active intimidation.
He uses the confidential information shared by the client against them.
His primary silencing tactic is the threat of exposure.
He informs the client that he will contact the subject of the investigation (the spouse or partner) to reveal that they are being investigated.
VICTIM TESTIMONY:
"He began to threaten me... saying he would call my husband and tell him what I was doing... he uses the information you gave him against you to take your money. He builds these things up to hold against you just to keep your money."
5. LEGAL AND REGULATORY NON-COMPLIANCE
Mr. Van Rensburg’s operations are a direct violation of the Private Security Industry Regulation Act (No. 56 of 2001) and the Code of Conduct for Security Service Providers, 2003.
Criminality: Operating with an expired PSIRA certificate is a crime.
Regulation 8(11) Violation: Failure to act in an honest and trustworthy manner.
Regulation 9(1) Violation: Use of misrepresentation and unreasonable pressure on clients.
Regulation 15(e) Violation: By threatening to expose the client to the subject (e.g., the husband), Mr. Van Rensburg directly violates the prohibition against the use of unlawful threats and intimidation to manage clients or gather information.
6. PUBLIC SAFETY ADVICE AND RISK MITIGATION:
SSS strongly advises the public to follow these non-negotiable safety steps:
VERIFY PSIRA REGISTRATION:
Ensure the status is "Active."
An "Expired" or "Pending" status means the operator is illegal and you have no regulatory protection.
WRITTEN MANDATES ONLY:
Never pay a cent without a written contract (mandate) that details specific deliverables and refund clauses.
AUDIT THE "EVIDENCE":
If an investigator provides only TrueCaller or free public-access data as proof of work, cease the engagement immediately; you are being scammed.
IMMEDIATE REPORTING OF THREATS:
If an investigator threatens to contact the subject of your investigation, do not submit to the blackmail. Report the matter to SAPS and SSS immediately.
