Specialist Investigators are currently pursuing an extensive investigation into allegations of hate speech, defamation of character, and fraud involving Mr. Peet and Mrs. Mel Viljoen, well-known public figures and former brand representatives.
BACKGROUND ON HATE SPEECH ALLEGATIONS:
In recent months, a series of online publications and video content posted by the Viljoen couple on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok have drawn significant public criticism.
In one Instagram post following their departure from South Africa, Mr. Viljoen reportedly stated that he "does not speak Baboon anymore."
This comment has been widely interpreted by the public as a derogatory reference to black South Africans.
Multiple further statements have been attributed to Mr. Viljoen in which black people were described as "gangsters and thieves".
While he reportedly added that "not all black people steal," he went on to claim that "everyone who steals happens to be black."
Mr. Viljoen has also published several comments on social media publications in which he repeatedly instructed the women who disagreed with his point of view to "go sleep with your black staff ", amongst other race-based insults.
A journalist has further alleged that Mr. Viljoen stated: "Black people have not built anything of significance; they multiply and cause destruction."
Mr. and Mrs. Viljoen have also, in several video recordings, expressed disdain for black people and black culture.
This pattern of conduct has led to Mr. Viljoen being referred to in the media as a "self-proclaimed racist."
As a result of these public remarks, the couple are now under investigation for hate speech and defamation of character, with a criminal case formally opened at SAPS Brackendowns under case number CAS: 204/06/2025.
FRAUD INVESTIGATION:
In addition to the hate speech matter, Mr. and Mrs. Viljoen are also facing ongoing fraud-related investigations linked to their previous business dealings with the Tammy Taylor Brand.

NOT THE VICTIMS:
The Viljoen couple is claiming to be the victims of unfair race laws in South Africa, but the narrative that they are pushing is not factual or truthful.
The facts are:
The Viljoen couple has illegally used the name and reputation of an American-based organisation in which they misrepresented themselves as the owners.
They then misled South Africans into purchasing franchises from them for a company over which they had no right of ownership.
Thus, they committed fraud and theft, and for years, they managed to evade justice by means of extortion, intimidation and threats towards their victims.
The Viljoen couple is now seeking safe harbour and refuge from the home country of the very business that they nearly crippled financially by means of their fraudulent misrepresentations.
Specialised Security Services hereby issues a request to the American authorities not to fall for the malicious manipulation tactics used by the Viljoen couple to represent themselves as victims of the South African government.
If the Viljoen couple succeeds in evading justice by finding refuge in America, it will set a standard and will open the door to widespread corruption; many similar cases will soon follow.
Mr. Peet Viljoen and Mrs. Mel Viljoen must return to South Africa and face justice for their actions.
WARNING TO THE SOUTH AFRICAN AND THE AMERICAN PUBLIC:
Do not fall victim to Mr. Viljoen’s manipulation. He is well-spoken, and he knows how to appear sincere.
There is a good reason why Mr. Viljoen has been the centre of several controversies surrounding his business dealings over the years. He uses manipulation and sophistication to draw victims into conducting business with him. Once the victims discover that he is not adhering to his end of the agreement, he turns to intimidation, extortion and threats to convince his victims not to file - or to withdraw already filed - criminal charges against him.
UNDERSTANDING HATE SPEECH IN SOUTH AFRICA:
Hate speech in South Africa is defined through the Constitution, the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act (PEPUDA), and relevant provisions of the Criminal Law.
CONSTITUTIONAL LIMITS:
While Section 16(1) of the Constitution protects freedom of expression, Section 16(2) excludes speech that:
Advocates hatred based on race, ethnicity, gender, or religion.
Incites harm (emotional, psychological, or physical).
PEPUDA:
The Equality Act prohibits communication that:
Shows intent to be hurtful.
Is harmful or incites harm.
Promotes or propagates hatred.
This applies to a broad list of protected characteristics, including race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, language, and culture.
CRIMINAL LAW:
Hate speech may be prosecuted under existing laws, such as crimen injuria or incitement to violence, and will soon carry direct criminal penalties under the Prevention and Combating of Hate Crimes and Hate Speech Act, signed in 2023.
