SUCCESS PROJECT: SUSPECTED ROMANCE SCAMMER AND CON ARTIST RAYMOND GROBBELAAR ARRESTED

Specialised Security Services previously issued a public warning regarding Mr. Raymond Grobbelaar,
identifying him as a high-profile person of interest involved in severe financial exploitation, fraud, and romance scams.

SSS can officially confirm that Mr. Grobbelaar was apprehended on Thursday, 2 July 2026,
and is now in police custody following a swift, collaborative local security operation.
THE ARREST:
Mr. Grobbelaar’s run from justice came to an abrupt end this morning in the Helderberg area.
A vigilant member of the public contacted the Strand Patrol Buurtwag/NHW Helderberg to report that a man was unlawfully occupying a fully furnished flat on her property.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that the occupant had gone so far as to remove the property owner's washing machine and sell it to a local second-hand dealer.
When confronted, the suspect initially denied any involvement but later admitted to stealing and selling the appliance.
Strand Patrol immediately raised the alarm over their radio network.
The response from local security forces was immediate:
AM Security Services responded promptly and remained on-site to secure the area and protect the complainant.
Vetus Schola Group deployed without delay to assist at the scene.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) arrived shortly after, took the suspect into custody, and officially opened a criminal case.
Arrangements are currently underway with the second-hand dealer to ensure the stolen washing machine is safely returned to its rightful owner.
THE TRAIL OF DEVASTATION:
While a stolen washing machine triggered his arrest, Mr. Grobbelaar’s criminal footprints run far deeper.
Investigation details reveal that he had been hiding out in the fully furnished flat after allegedly swindling a single mother out of more than R100,000.00.
This victim, who has a 4-year-old son, has been left in a catastrophic financial and emotional position.
The emotional fallout of these types of crimes is devastating.
Romance scammers do not just steal money; they completely violate a person's trust, peace of mind, and sense of safety.
Victims are often left wrestling with intense feelings of betrayal, confusion, shock, and severe financial anxiety about how they will provide for their children.

HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF ON THE DATING SCENE:
Romance and confidence scammers are highly manipulative and incredibly skilled at creating a false sense of security.
To ensure you do not become their next target, prioritise your safety by keeping these core rules in mind:
PRIORITISE SAFETY ABOVE EVERYTHING:
Never let whirlwind romance cloud your instinct.
If someone is rushing a relationship or trying to isolate you from your friends and family, step back immediately.
NEVER LET A STRANGER MOVE IN EARLY:
Do not allow someone into your home, property, or fully furnished flats without a verified history.
KEEP YOUR FINANCES COMPLETELY SEPARATE:
Never give a dating partner access to your bank accounts, pin codes, or high-value physical assets. If they ask for financial help, loans, or business investments early on, it is an immediate red flag.

Before you allow someone into your life, your home, or close to your loved ones, verify exactly who they are.
