Mr. Emile de Witt appeared before the Randburg court on 15 April 2026 following his arrest on 19 March 2026 for theft. During his appearance in court, Mr. de Witt applied for legal aid, and the case was postponed until 23 April 2026.

It is expected that Mr. de Witt's official bail application hearing will commence after that.

Directly after the court proceedings were concluded on 15 April 2026, Mr. de Witt was charged with

theft of a motor vehicle under case reference: SANDTON CAS 168/4/2026.

The case was registered by a complainant who alleges that Mr. de Witt took possession of his Audi A4 (Metallic Silver)

and never returned the vehicle as agreed.

It is suspected that Mr. de Witt sold the vehicle.

Anyone with information about the current whereabouts of the following vehicle must contact our specialist investigator,

Mr. Morney Vos, immediately:

  • Vehicle make and model: AUDI A4 (METALLIC SILVER)

  • Registration number: XHV164GP

KEY TIMELINE OF EVENTS:

  • 2019–2023: INITIAL COMPLAINTS AND PATTERN OF ALLEGED FRAUD

    • Complaints against Mr. Emile de Witt date back to 2019.

    • Alleged crimes include: selling land he did not own, defrauding a 76-year-old pensioner out of his property title deed, embezzling building funds, and unlawfully occupying a luxury home.

    • There is also a serious allegation of hiring a "hitman" for extortion.

    • Multiple cases were reportedly opened at various police stations (Barrage, Vereeniging, Vanderbijlpark).

  • MARCH 2024: FIRST ARREST

    • Outcome: He was released on bail of R1,500.00 at the Palm Ridge court.

  • NOVEMBER 2024 – JULY 2025: ESCALATION AND WIDER RACKETEERING ALLEGATIONS

    • New Victims: SSS identified a new victim, Mr. Jaques van Staden, whose ID was allegedly used by Mr. de Witt and Mr. Reece in three separate fraudulent property sales in Sasolburg.

    • Fake Law Firm: The fraudulent transactions allegedly used letters from a non-existent law firm, "Reece and Kruger Attorneys."

    • Pending Cases: SSS reported there were 26 cases from Barrage and Vereeniging SAPS with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), but cases from other stations were allegedly never sent.

    • July 2025 Update: SSS announced that the Palm Ridge Court had issued a warrant of arrest for Mr. de Witt's accomplices. It was also noted that Mr. de Witt was out on bail for other serious Schedule 6 offences (a category including rape, robbery, and serious fraud) at the time of his 2024 bail grant.

  • FEBRUARY 2026: SEARCH AND SEIZURE OPERATION

    • Event: On 6 February 2026, SAPS, in conjunction with SSS, executed a search and seizure warrant at 109 Wilton Avenue, Bryanston, Sandton – a property Mr. de Witt was allegedly occupying.

    • Allegations in new cases:

      2. False Identity Contracts: Mr. de Witt allegedly used the alias "Emile Matthews" to sign construction contracts for 40 residential units in Broadacres Ext 15, leading to two fraud cases at Sandton SAPS.

    • Outcome: Electronic devices and documents were seized for forensic analysis.

  • MARCH 2026: SECOND ARREST

    • Event: Mr. Emile de Witt was arrested again on 19 March 2026 at the same Bryanston address (109 Wilton Avenue).

    • Charge: The arrest was for the alleged theft of furniture from the Bryanston residence.

    • He was occupying the home rent-free and was under a court order to vacate.

SUMMARY OF MODUS OPERANDI:

Based on the numerous complaints, SSS outlines a pattern in Mr. de Witt's alleged crimes:

  1. PROPERTY FRAUD:

    • Advertising properties that he does not own for sale, taking deposits or signing sale agreements.

  2. TITLE DEED THEFT:

    • Insisting on receiving original title deeds as "security" and then using them to sell the property to someone else.

  3. CORPORATE HIJACKING:

    • Illegally changing company ownership at CIPC to gain control of bank accounts.

  4. UNLAWFUL OCCUPATION:

    • Moving into properties and refusing to pay rent or vacate, leading to prolonged legal battles for owners.

  5. RETALIATION:

    • Using legal harassment orders to try to silence investigators or public warnings.
