TERUGVOER/FEEDBACK - KALFIEFEES & DESPATCH BOEKMAKIETIE 2026

Op 10 Julie 2026 het ons tydens die jaar se Vrystaat Kunstefees weer die voorreg gehad om, in samewerking met Naledi, Valskermbataljon Verhale Boek 2 amptelik bekend te stel.

Die Valskermbataljon Verhale Boek 1 is verlede jaar op 19 Julie 2025 ook by die Vrystaat Kunstefees vrygestel.

Daar het groot opgewondenheid onder die gehoor geheers tydens die boekgesprek

waartydens Mnr. Mike Bolhuis en Mnr. Lieb Liebenberg Valskermbataljon Verhale Boek 2 bespreek het.

Medeveterane Mnr. Theo Kluyts en Mnr. Raymond Ralph was ook saam op die verhoog en het aan die gesprek deelgeneem.

Die manne het van hul ervarings as valskermsoldate gedeel, wat groot aanklank by die gehoor gevind het.

Die saal was stampvol en nadat alle sitplekke gevul was, het mense selfs gestaan om na die gesprek te luister.

Saam met Naledi, Mnr. Mike Bolhuis, Mnr. Lieb Liebenberg, die medeveterane en die lede van die publiek wat die geleentheid bygewoon het, was die amptelike bekendstelling van Valskermbataljon Verhale Boek 2 'n reuse-sukses.

Die boek het weereens uiters goed verkoop en, soos die spreekwoord lui, "soos soetkoek verkoop."

KALFIEFEES 2026

Dit was vir ons ’n groot voorreg om op 4 Augustus 2026 tydens die jaar se Kalfiefees

oor Valskermbataljon Verhale Boek 1 en Boek 2 te kon gesels.

Mnr. Johan Coetzee, Mnr. Mike Bolhuis en Mnr. Krige van Heerden, almal oud-valskermsoldate,

het die verhoog gedeel en op ’n aangename wyse oor Boek 1, asook die langverwagte Boek 2, gesels.

Die saal was stampvol, en almal het aandagtig na die gesprek geluister.

Dit was ’n besonderse ervaring om saam met mede-veterane

en lede van die algemene publiek te kon kuier en herinneringe te deel.

DESPATCH BOEKMAKIETIE 2026

Op 22 Augustus 2026 is die eerste ATKV Boekmakietie in Despatch gehou.

Dit was die eerste boekfees van sy soort wat in die Oos-Kaap gehou is.

Mnr. Mike Bolhuis en Mnr. Lieb Liebenberg (mede-samestellers van die Valskermbataljon Verhale-boeke 1 en 2),

is genooi om die fees by te woon en oor albei boeke te gesels.

Mnr. Hannes Visser het die gesprek gefasiliteer en

heerlik saam met Mnr. Mike Bolhuis en Mnr. Lieb Liebenberg oor albei boeke gesels.

Dit was ’n groot eer en ’n besonderse ervaring om deel van die Boekmakietie te kon wees.

Dit was ook ’n voorreg om saam met die publiek te kon kuier en stories en ervarings met hulle te deel.

DANKBETUIGING:

Ons spreek ons dank en waardering uit teenoor alle partye betrokke wat ons tot dusver ondersteun het

met die vrystelling en verkope van die eerste boek en gehelp het om dit ’n reuse sukses te maak.

By voorbaat bedank ons ook diegene wat reeds betrokke is

en gaan wees by Boek 2.

Ons betuig al ons lof, dank en eer aan die Here, ons God, vir Sy veiligheid, sekerheid, wysheid,

insig, krag, voorspoed, gesondheid en onderskeidingsvermoë wat op hierdie projek gerus het en nog steeds rus.

In en deur Hom sal ons ook susksesvol wees met die vrystelling van die tweede boek.

OFFICIAL LAUNCH – FREE STATE ARTS FESTIVAL

On 10 July 2026, we once again had the privilege of officially launching Valskermbataljon Verhale Volume 2

in partnership with Naledi during this year's Free State Arts Festival.

The Valskermbataljon Verhale Volume 1 was released on 19 July 2025 at the Free State Arts Festival as well.

There was great excitement among the audience during the book discussion,

where Mr. Mike Bolhuis and Mr. Lieb Liebenberg introduced and discussed Volume 2.

Fellow veterans Mr. Theo Kluyts and Mr. Raymond Ralph also joined them on stage and participated in the discussion.

The speakers shared many of their personal experiences as paratroopers, which resonated strongly with the audience.

The venue was filled to capacity and, once all seats had been taken, many people remained standing to listen.

Together with Naledi, Mr. Mike Bolhuis, Mr. Lieb Liebenberg, our fellow veterans, and the members of the public who attended and shared in the occasion, the official launch of Valskermbataljon Verhale Volume 2 was an outstanding success.

Once again, the book sold exceptionally well and, as the saying goes, "it sold like hotcakes."

KALFIEFEES 2026

It was a great privilege for us to have the opportunity to speak about Valskermbataljon Verhale Books 1 and 2

at this year’s Kalfiefees on 4 August 2026.

Mr Johan Coetzee, Mr Mike Bolhuis and Mr Krige van Heerden, all former paratroopers,

shared the stage and spoke in a relaxed and enjoyable manner about Book 1,

as well as the long-awaited Book 2.

The hall was packed, and everyone listened attentively to the discussion.

It was a memorable experience to spend time with fellow veterans and members of the public

while sharing stories and reminiscing about our experiences.

DESPATCH BOEKMAKIETIE 2026

On 22 August 2026, the first ATKV Boekmakietie was held in Despatch.

It was the first book festival of its kind to be held in the Eastern Cape.

Mr. Mike Bolhuis and Mr. Lieb Liebenberg (co-compilers of the Valskermbataljon Verhale books 1 and 2)

were invited to attend the festival and to talk about both books.

Mr. Hannes Visser facilitated the discussion and had a lively and insightful conversation

with Mr. Mike Bolhuis and Mr. Lieb Liebenberg about both books.

It was a great honour and a special experience to be part of the Boekmakietie.

It was also a privilege to spend time with the members of the public and to share stories and experiences with them.
