BAIL APPLICATION DISMISSED:
On 17 August 2026, Mr. Peet Viljoen appeared in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court for his bail application.
Magistrate Nicca Setshogoe dismissed the application, citing the following reasons for her decision:
Additional fraud charges registered against Mr. Viljoen between 2021 and 2023 relating to the alleged fraudulent sale of Tammy Taylor franchises contributed to the decision to deny bail.
Mr. Viljoen poses a flight risk, as previously stated in projects published by Specialised Security Services.
Mr. Viljoen will remain incarcerated while his trial is scheduled to commence on 4 September 2026.
SSS PREVIOUS ASSESSMENTS CONFIRMED:
Specialised Security Services previously highlighted the significance of the following factors in its published projects:
The social media statements made by Mr. Viljoen.
The fact that Mr. Viljoen is deemed a flight risk.
The modus operandi of continued fraudulent acts committed by Mr. Viljoen.
SSS is therefore satisfied that the investigating team at the Hawks, the prosecutor, and the Magistrate agreed with the assessments and warnings previously published in SSS projects.
APPRECIATION AND CONGRATULATIONS:
SSS hereby extends appreciation and congratulations to:
The investigating units at the SAPS.
The prosecution team, under the leadership of advocate Mr. Willem Van Zyl handling the cases against Mr. Viljoen.
The SSS Specialist Task teams.
The public who continued to share and distribute the projects.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: MRS. MEL VILJOEN
Based on the evidence collected during the SSS investigations, Mr. Viljoen did not act alone:
Mrs. Mel Viljoen participated in the fraudulent activities relating to the Tammy Taylor franchises.
Mrs. Mel Viljoen had knowledge of the crimes committed.
Mrs. Mel Viljoen benefited financially from those crimes.
Therefore, Mrs. Mel Viljoen must be apprehended and charged along with Mr. Viljoen.
NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC:
The denial of bail shows that justice can be served if all parties involved cooperate and provide crucial information to support official investigations.
Those who were victimised by the Viljoen couple are urged to come forward and register criminal cases.
